Environmental & Heritage Assessment Update

The Skylands Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA) and Structure Plan are being prepared for submission to the Tasmanian Planning Commission. To support an efficient and well‑informed assessment process, we have engaged leading Tasmanian specialists:

• North Barker – undertaking flora, fauna, and habitat assessments
• THC (Tasmanian Heritage Consultants) – reviewing Aboriginal and European cultural heritage values

Early findings indicate no threatened flora or fauna within the study area. However, potential foraging activity by migrating swift parrots has been identified, and additional targeted surveys will be undertaken.

THC’s preliminary work suggests that both Aboriginal and European cultural heritage features are located within the area proposed as the future foreshore reserve, ensuring they can be appropriately protected and managed.
