Re: The Droughty Peninsula Structure Plan

As small landholders (328 Droughty Pt Rd) who will be involved in the structure plan , we again express our enthusiasm for the overall project which will gradually alleviate the housing shortage and provide other useful amenities, and our willingness to cooperate with other stakeholders. We are impressed and grateful for the effort the Carr Family have put into this project and looking forward to any current issues being resolved and the plan being able to move forward.

Yours sincerely,

Oceana Drive Alignment

Here you can see the proposed alignment for Oceana Drive and typical cross sections - one clarification to the cross sections is that many homes will be set well back from Oceana rather than close to the property line as shown. We realise that the Structure Plan may modify the proposed Oceana Drive alignment.

The cross sections provide:

  1. Footpaths at the property line for added pedestrian safety
  2. Bioswale nature strips with large canopy native trees that will shade both the footpaths and the bicycle lanes
  3. Bicycle lanes in each direction
  4. Parking lanes that provide convenience for residents and visitors, as well as added protection for cyclists and pedestrians. Parking of large vehicles and caravans will be prohibited for visual safety reasons
  5. We propose wet utilities (sewer and water) in the parking or bike lanes rather than in the nature strip where maintenance inhibits the growth of large stately trees
  6. We propose dry utilities, electric and telecommunications in the rear lanes for convenience and to rid the beautiful streetscape of ugly above ground cabinets, etc.

We know the importance of eliminating driveways to sub-arterial roads and there will be none on Oceana Drive.
